Bro imagine becoming self-aware as an NPC in someone else's game and then have literal God smite you down not 10 minutes later and probably send you right back to where you came. The only consolation prize is he might've had his memory wiped but at the same time if not, that man is gonna have some SERIOUS trauma to work through.
I honestly wasn't expecting him to even be able to pass through the portal, I thought it would've just had him thump up against it or something and get trapped in the kingdom during a monster attack. I honestly can't decide which is worse, being eaten alive by a fudge monster or turned into confetti by floating teeth with eyeballs.

I never understood why people were falling in love with Pomni as she just seemed like an innocent little girl, but after this episode I can finally understand why. I mean she confirmed if she didn't want anyone to feel worthless then by that logic if I were trapped in the circus she would care about how I feel. She truly is a sweetheart and I wish she and everyone will someday escape.

At Kaufmo’s funeral Pomni notices she’s surrounded by people who genuinely care for one another. You can see the moment on her face when she realizes she no longer has to suffer by her self anymore. Amazing character growth for Pomni and it’s only episode 2.

- The AI being "50x more complex" means Caine inadvertently allowed Gummigoo to comprehend his role and true nature and he could erase his existence with zero effort. That's so darkly comedic.
- Jax being less comedic and more explicitly violent and manipulative seems like a deliberate effort by Gooseworx to establish how awful Jax is, as she's stated that Jax is the only Digital Circus member that deserves to be trapped within the simulation.

This is good! I saw a marked improvement in the quality of the writing this episode. Taking time to build atmosphere and let things get serious now and then without interrupting it with a poorly-timed gag is exactly the change I’ve been hoping to see in both this and Murder Drones, so I was pleasantly surprised by how well the scene below the map with Gummigoo and Pomni was handled. Throughout the whole scene I was scared that they were going to jump in with a big joke and kill all the atmosphere and tension they’d built in a single stroke (which, if I’m being completely honest, is an unfortunate recurring theme in Glitch’s shows), but instead, the whole scene was handled completely sincerely, and was SO much better for it. I know this series is supposed to be a dark comedy, but it’s a drama and a thriller too, and it’s a BIG breath of fresh air when I see the writers lean into that side of things and actually take some time to turn down the lights and let things get serious now and then without obliterating all the dramatic tension they’ve built by turning to the audience and yelling “JUST KIDDING!” halfway through.
I will say that I think an episode like this would have been more impactful if it were a little later in the season, though: it feels like this episode tried to break the status quo without taking the time to establish it first. Even just one episode between this and the pilot to establish the norm for these adventures before going off the rails and giving an NPC an existential crisis would have made the twist with Gummigoo that much more impactful. His whole arc reminded me a lot of the episode “The Chrome Car” from Infinity Train season 1, which had an almost identical premise; but while Gumigoo’s arc *was* effective (and his death genuinely stung), I felt like the example from Infinity Train had an extra level of effectiveness simply because they had taken the time to show more of these “NPCs” and their worlds beforehand and establish a sense of normalcy.
In the one-in-a-million chance that someone from Glitch actually sees this amidst the sea of 214,000(!!!) comments, thanks for listening to me ramble for a bit, and good luck with the rest of the show!
