Entonces Kanata va a andar a escondidas para ser Ultraman. Seria divertido que cuando revele su identidad todo el equipo diga "lo sabia!"
Deathdrago anduvo todo epico en este cap. La aparicion del monstruo aliado me agarro desprevenido, fue divertido.
El equipo se formo y ya estan las personalidades. Diria que no estraron a GUTS-Select por obedecer las ordenes sino que porque demostraron tener el espiritu que se necesita

I like how realistic everything feels compared to Trigger; the 1-year timeskip gives us some good worldbuilding, and Sawa's advice on how to defeat Deathdrago feels more natural than just simply giving exposition on a kaiju's background for the viewers. I do hope we get some explanation on why Deathdrago didn't run away after its horn got blown off, as well as why it started rampaging in the first place next episode.
The human drama this ep was great, I liked how despite their differences, our main trio is worthy of being GUTS Select members because of their drive to protect. But really, even though he did a decent job here, with how edgy Ryumon is I wish his actor was cast a year later as New Generation Agul; he reminds me a lot of Fujimiya during the early parts of Gaia.
It was nice seeing Miclas again, and the way it appeared was serviceable, but with how little screentime he got we probably won't get to see him defeating kaiju any time soon. That's my main issue with Decker so far; the actual battle between Decker and the kaiju of the week doesn't feel memorable compared with the human drama before it. I like how Asumi's leg injury is a plot point that factors into the fight and probably got Kirino and Ryumon to start guessing, but other than that the fight lacks anything to stand out and feels bog-standard. I just hope next ep's fight with Sphere Gomora and the debut of Strong Type changes that.
Overall, a decent episode, but it's lacking something that makes it stand out. Compared to the bombastic first episode, this one just feels a bit too standard, and I hope it's just a breather before things get back in gear again next week.

Decker's definitely better than how Trigger started off, plenty of stories behind TPU trainees and how they operate as well as character development and unlike Kengo and Trigger, Kanata and Decker both started out fighting almost amateurishly which emphasized how he started out as a normal human.

One of the more subtle aspects of Trigger was how predominantly focused on civilian rescue GUTS-Select is, especially in contrast to the OG GUTS (it's to be expected, Select doesn't have quite so many toys to shill). It's really cool how they've delved back into that here, the new trio are chosen EXPLICITLY for their dedication to helping people.

man this second episode was genuinely very well done!! I havent gotten chills for characters in a while! I was super critical with trigger, but im super happy to know even as an ultraman show today, there can still be fantastic writing!!! Thank you tsuburaya for listening <3

As I expected, they use a timeskip to not slow down the story too much. Thankfully they somehow made the characters react to each other natural enough.
Dialog are as natural as ever and the acting on this bois! The argument they had felt so natural I actually felt a bit tense when it happen.
I LOVE that there's a reason why the kaiju was there (feeling threaten, might be the Spheres) and even give some small details of what its doing (the intimidation behaviour).
The fight wasn't as bombastic as the first episode but I think the drama behind it compensate it enough.
Beautiful moment for the series, reminding themselves (and us too!) what were their purpose in the series. Their job isnt just to defeat the kaijus but also, and farmost, is to keep civilian safe and far from the battles.
So a quick question for the GUTS Select. Since the Hawk was piloted by HANE2, who is an AI, wouldnt it be effected by the Sphere's EMP too if it gets deployed? 🤔

Points i got from this eps:
1. Seems like the guts select members initiation had been revealed clearly and the struggle they had to join, the trigger's guts didnt show any of them and we just knew that marluru got invited by tatsumi himself, himari and tesshin were likely old members, akito and yuna were got joined easily since her dad is a leader of shizuma foundation (with akito was adopted since he lost his parents, and lastly kengo who also got invited by shizuma due to his identity as Trigger
2. They brought back the logic of dunamists, where the injuries they are having atm will be followed into the ultra itself and of course it cant be healed
3. So mons dimension cards can summon monsters like kaiju capsules, unlike orb kaiju cards that the only function is to unseal a lord monster, but why must they be Seven's capsule monsters specifically (with no sevenger)? Did decker ever meet Ultraseven in the past? Also his active time is even shorter than GUYS maquette monsters
For the small detail question, how does THIS deathdrago possesses red colored lightning when he is not a dark monster manipulated by giant of darkness?

So one year since the Spheres have engulfed Earth in a planet prison, life seems to go on while Kanata, Ichika, and Ryomon along with other Guts-Select recruits have been training a full year to become members of Guts-Select. Kanata may not have the best grades, he isn't someone who backs down despite injury and lack of stamina.
Meanwhile, native kaijus on Earth are starting to awaken being affected by the presence of the Spheres. This would lead to next episode with Gomorra's surfacing and the first instance of these Spheres conducting assimilation.
What I was not expecting was for Decker to be carrying the Dimension Kaiju cards which has sadly dashed my hopes that Guts-Select had continued their kaiju research years after the events of Trigger. Biggest bummer of this series to me anyway. But then I remember those kaiju are the same kaiju that the Ultras had with them in Ultra Monster Battle they had used as an alternative after losing their powers. Those capsule kaiju Mebius had taken with him to the Land of Light have been converted to kaiju cards. We need an origin story for Decker.

I love the acting in this new series. It's fantastic. Unlike Trigger which had a lot of forced dialogues and cheesy moments. Also, seeing GUTS Select interact more with civilians is a pop. It doesn't feel like they're the only ones living in the world.

So far Im liking Decker its more plot and drama oriented which adds more realism interesting how it will be tied-in to Trigger's plot maybe Decker is also part of the Eternity Core and he is made to counter the Spheres

また、第1話から密かに登場しているサトウ、ノジマ、イソザキ三人の行く末も微妙に気になります。ストレイジ整備班トリオのように、地味ながらいいところで出演し続ける準レギュラー的立ち位置を担っていくのでしょうか…

Overall a great episode for Ultraman Decker and we can see how the training for them before they become a member of Guts Select but still i am pretty convinced that Ultraman Decker actually Ultraman Dyna who were trapped inside Sphere

I love the one year time skip for this episode and Kanata trying to work as a team with his GUTS Select members and the you have to be inside the GUTS FALCON now sweet not just remote control it and now they have a GUTS HAWK piloted by a robot AI. Great how they change Ultraman's Transformation instead of having Hyper Keys Kanata uses Cards not being able to become Ultraman Decker for a whole year well I guess if no Kaiju attacked since then why bother right. But I always feel like when someone turns into Ultraman they should be healed of their injuries IMO so Kanata leg would have been fine plus Decker being able to summon Monster help of his own a new Ultra power nice Decker is doing great like Trigger.

行軍訓練とか時刻の言い方とか、校長の制服の銀の徽章とか自衛隊と同じで「軍隊が命をかけた闘うための訓練」っていうリアルさが伝わってくる。デッカーの描写はリアルさがあって、スッと入ってくる。by現役自衛官

いきなり一年経ってびっくり！
隊長、デスクワーカーっぽい雰囲気なのにいきなり地上でも空中でもガンガン活躍するギャップが良いですね！
今作はストロングの方が先に登場するのですね。
パワータイプとはまた違う、ストロングタイプらしさが再現されてるか期待と不安が入り混じります。
