完全新作特撮『ゴジラVSヘドラ』を、大好評を受けてアーカイブにさきがけて公開いたします！

「ゴジラ・フェス2021」の大トリを飾った、完全作特撮『ゴジラVSヘドラ』前回の「ゴジラゴジラ・フェスに現る」から、かなりのスケールアップがされ、大迫力のバトルが繰り広げられました。2021年4月にプロジェクトがスタートし、中川監督をはじめとするゴジラ愛に溢れたスタッフが約1年ぶりに再集結。まさか「令和になってゴジラとヘドラのバトル特撮を撮ることができるとは思ってもみなかった」と興奮するスタッフたちが、愛と情熱をもって撮影に挑みました。

■撮影エピソード

〇あの時、見ることができなかった「ゴジラ」と「ヘドラ」の大バトル
2021年9月に延べ3日間をかけて撮影された今作。今回の「ゴジラ」と「ヘドラ」のスーツは、ともに『ゴジラFINALWARS』（2004年公開）で実際に使用されたスーツを用いて撮影を行い、工業地帯の再現にはゴジラシリーズで使用されていたビルやクレーンの他、この撮影のために新たに作られた煙突やガスタンクなどファンにはたまらないミニチュア50棟以上が使用しされ、ゴジラとヘドラ、17年の時を超えた大バトルの舞台となる工業地帯を再現しました。

〇笠井信輔氏による現場レポート「ゴジタイムズ」
フェス当日には、特撮本編の他に、笠井信輔氏が特撮現場をレポートする「ゴジタイムズ」という2分のメイキング映像が4回流され、特撮現場に現れた笠井氏は動くヘドラに大興奮しながら、特撮がどのように撮影されているのかや、ゴジラとヘドラのアクションの裏側など、熱のこもったレポートを見せました。また、スーツアクターや、スーツの補修をする若いスタッフが特撮の現場で活躍する姿も紹介されました。

〇オープニングとエンドロールを彩った流動映像
今作には、東京オリンピック閉会式をはじめ、国内外のフェスティバルなどで活躍する画家の中山晃子氏がオープニングとエンドロールの流動映像を手掛けました。監督の中川氏からは「毒々しいイチゴヤドクガエルのようなイメージです。」というオーダーのみが伝えられ、中山氏がヘドラを再解釈し制作した流動映像がいくつか届くと、それを見た中川氏は大興奮。オープニングには監督のイメージをしていたイチゴヤドクガエルにインスパイヤされた流動映像を採用。エンドロールには、中山氏の考える「ヘドラ」のイメージを白と黒で表現した流動映像が採用され、往年の特撮の空気感に新しいエッセンスが加えられた最高の仕上がりとなった。

Shout out to the creative team and suit actors for bringing this together! As a massive fan of the original Hedorah movie, it was great to see the homages mixed with some updated tokusatsu effects. Plus, the battle we never got in Final Wars! Loved it!

Even tho it was 5 minutes, the suitmation effects, pyrotechnics, and choreography was amazing! This shows that Toho can still make Godzilla films in suitmation even if they’re short. Final Wars Godzilla still showed his amazing strength and firepower and Hedorah did an amazing job at being gross. Arigatou, Toho!

The practical effects were amazing, the cinematography was amazing, the suits look a bit rough, but that's to be expected since it's been a while since these suits have seen action. I really enjoyed the whole thing and I would love to see Toho take another shot at suitmation.

I wish people making Godzilla fan films would stop exclusively using Legendary as the basis. Godzilla has had so many great designs and sounds but almost all of these fan creators use Legendary. I honestly want to see MosuGoji return in some fashion.

The Final Wars costumes, the heisei style logos, the music from Godzilla vs. Hedorah and from Final Wars - the final shots against the sunrise. This was awesome, great work by the entire production.

It's great to see the big G, from Final Wars, back in action again. Same for the Hedorah suit and that one battle attack song from that movie too. And even though it doesn't really fit into the movie that they're from, I consider this the Godzilla vs Hedorah fight we never got to see from Godzilla Final Wars.

With the 2004 Godzilla suit being one of my favorite designs, seeing it be used again was great, and to see the 2004 Hedorah finally get the fight scene he deserved was overall fantastic! Keep up the awesome work Toho!

I'm not about to get my hopes up, after how Toho's been doing "Godzilla" the last many years. But THIS is how you do it right. I hope someone takes the hint, and follows this up by eventually making a REAL traditional, non-crappy suitmation Godzilla film again! Been waiting since 2004. And with today's film technology, if they just used a BIT of CGI to supplement great suits and miniatures, it could be amazing. Some of the best effects anyone's seen, I believe. So please make it happen someday, Toho! I'd like to believe in you guys again.

This was absolutely epic and awesome! The art of suit-mation lives and nothing can stop it, seeing a new media featuring Godzilla and kaiju as classic suit-mation really puts a smile in my face and I will be so happy if we get so much more of stuff like this in the future. Perfect thing to wake up to on the morning of Godzilla Day!
