My theory about this music video is that in the beginning points and scenes, the two characters have just met, sitting under a cherry blossom tree during spring. They eventually fell in love with one another as days pass by, with them still meeting in the same place. This is proven by the scenes showing the male character inside the house of the girl and them sitting besides each other in the balcony and walking with their hands held together. After which, another scene of the man sitting in the balcony while raining was also shown. From there, the boy looks melancholic and depressed, thus, symbolizing his sorrow about the girl passing away, which is also seen in the cherry blossom tree, where they were holding hands and the girl abruptly disappeared besides him. The wooden thing is then a reminder of their resonant and loving memories, which is also proven multiple times when the man's looking at it. The dog at the end also confirms the death of the girl, since it has no reaction anymore to the female character, which is in contrast to its barking to her in the beginning parts. The dog also was not looking at someone, but rather, just looking plainly onto its surroundings, specifically besides the said man sitting on the bench, as if it still remembers the past where it had interacted with the girl on that very place. As the ending progresses, we also saw numerous points of view from the girl, which then conveys that an odd occurrence is being experienced by her, where she can still see and witness the daily life of his beloved man, and is also reliving the moments they had in the past by sitting together once again on the bench under the cherry blossom tree, with the man longing for her. 花人局の歌詞から思うに盗作の主人公の妻(このMVの桜を見ている視点の人)は突然病気か何かで亡くなったのでは？と思った。MVの男の人は妻が突然亡くなって自暴自棄になってお酒を飲んだ。そして泥酔して意識があまりないために昨日までそばに誰かがいたけどそんな気がするだけ。洗面台の歯ブラシも誰かのコップも棚の化粧水も泥酔してるから覚えのないものばかりに見えてしまうけど枕にはどこか妻の匂いがする。また”分からないままでもいい むしろその方がいい”は、妻が突然亡くなった事実を主人公がずっと受け止めきれないから。だから主人公は突然亡くなった妻が”ごめんね 遅くなったって”と言っていつものようにドアが開いて帰ってくるのを待っている。ちなみに俳句では桜を花に例えるそうだが、花人局の歌詞の”花一つ持たせて消えたあなたのこと”は春泥棒のMVの最後に男の人が筆箱を開けると桜の花びらが1枚出てくる。ここを見ると花人局の歌詞の意味が”桜の花びら一つ持たせて亡くなったあなた”の意味とも解釈できる。余談だが、前世のライブで花人局の次に歌われた曲が春泥棒だったことも何か気づかせるための仕掛けだったのかもしれない…？

My take on the song: (Could be entirely wrong knowing my brain size)
At the first glance, I thought the husband died, yet when I looked at it closer, a completely different conclusion can be drawn. Never underestimate n-buna songs.... Most of this song is written from the wife's perspective, with the song's verses focusing heavily on describing the breathtaking view of cherry blossoms. Why is this? Well, in the description we can see this: 命を桜に喩えます。 which roughly translates to "I used cherry blossoms as a metaphor for life.". Plus N-buna's tweet from 4 hours ago: 花が寿命なら風は時間だろう。それはつまり春風のことで、桜を散らしていくから春泥棒である (https://twitter.com/nbuna_staff/status/1347878777817206789) "If flowers represent life then the wind shall be time. As the spring wind blows, scattering the cherry blossoms making it the spring thief." I'm sure most of you can come out with a conclusion yourselves why this song's title is Spring Thief.
But what happened in the story itself? In the 4th and 5th verse,

Most of this song is written from the wife's perspective, with the song's verses focusing heavily on describing the breathtaking view of cherry blossoms. Why is this? Well, in the description we can see this: 命を桜に喩えます。 which roughly translates to "I used cherry blossoms as a metaphor for life.". Plus N-buna's tweet from 4 hours ago: 花が寿命なら風は時間だろう。それはつまり春風のことで、桜を散らしていくから春泥棒である (https://twitter.com/nbuna_staff/status/1347878777817206789) "If flowers represent life then the wind shall be time. As the spring wind blows, scattering the cherry blossoms making it the spring thief." I'm sure most of you can come out with a conclusion yourselves why this song's title is Spring Thief.
But what happened in the story itself? In the 4th and 5th verse,

The corgi appears multiple times in the video and is quite an important clue. at 0:28 we can see the corgi playing with her, indicating she is alive and the corgi can still see her, they are a happy couple that goes to see the cherry blossoms in spring. At 0:48 the scene transitions into fireworks and I absolutely adore this scene, fire works are usually seen in summer and this blends the passge of time into the story so, so well.
1:08 The wife runs towards the husband on the train yet is unable to reach him, and I believe it is at this point the wife passed away, leaving her husband alone.
1:31 Spring comes again, he sits on the bench same as before, but she is not here anymore, instead she is a ghost(surprise!).
at 1:52, she sees the corgi again and tries to play with is, yet she is dead the corgi cannot actually touch her, so it simply lies down. Note, i think the corgi Can see her, and that it knows she is here.
2:06 THe first appearence of a wooden pen case, this appears right after the death of the wife, we will see this pen case appear a lot of time later, and I believe this is something she used a lot when she was alive, that the reason why he looked at it so adoringly is that it represents his wife. The scene transitions into a rainstorm and the husband broken on a chair, this is persumably because she just died.
2:34 Stunning transition again, signifying the passing of time. The train passes by a cherry blossom tree here which is quite peculiar. Cherry blossoms are a metaphor for life are they not? I believe however, that this tree is a metaphor for the memories they have together instead. And where is this strange void out of nowhere? Let's keep watching.

Also, if you look closely, the shape of the leaves are not the same when they are green and pink, instead the leaves are normal leaves until turned into actual cherry blossoms by his wife's love. To add to what has already been said about this utterly beautiful song and PV:
There are a lot of scenes here that depict *the girl looking up or being underneath cherry blossom trees*. "Under the Cherry Trees" is a piece of classic Japanese literature from the 1920s that depicts sakura trees as that which represents the decadence of life, where it is said that corpses are buried underneath sakura trees. In subsequent works (and pop culture in general), sakura trees have since had connotative ties to the underworld, or the realm of those that have since passed. This further supports the theory that the girl whose POV we share here for Haru Dorobou is someone who resides in that realm underneath the sakura trees.

主人公がずっと本を読んでいたり女の人が気づいた時には遠いところに行ってしまっているのは女の人が幽霊の状態で主人公を追いかけているから主人公は幽霊の奥さんに気づいていないということだと思います。
「雲と幽霊」を思い出しますね。
木の筆箱は主人公が作って奥さんにプレゼントしたものだと思われます。（小説に書いてありました。）

考察。小説では、音楽泥棒が地位や名声を失ったところまでが描かれていて、「盗作」で、「何もかも失った後に、見える夜は本当に綺麗だろうから」という歌詞があり、この曲は「何もかも失った」後にしか見られない本当に美しいもの、が描かれてるのだと思います。その、本当に美しいものを「言葉ごときが語れるものか」という表現で表すのが、ヨルシカらしくて凄い好きです。
