Almost 20 years after making their iconic turn as Miranda, Andy, Emily and Nigel—Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci return to the fashionable streets of New York City and the sleek offices of Runway Magazine in the eagerly awaited sequel to the 2006 phenomenon that defined a generation.

The film reunites the original main cast with director David Frankel and writer Aline Brosh McKenna, and introduces an all-new runway of characters including Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak and Conrad Ricamora. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman also reprise their roles as “Lily” and “Irv” from the first film.

“The Devil Wears Prada 2” is produced by Wendy Finerman, and executive produced by Michael Bederman, Karen Rosenfelt and Aline Brosh McKenna. The film debuts exclusively in theaters May 1.

They’ve got the same studio, director, writer, producer, cinematographer, composer, and the entire main cast returning for the sequel. Oh, this has all the ingredients to be something very good 🥰

Crazy to think that in the first film, Meryl Streep was the only one in the four-person ensemble who was an Oscar nominee or winner. Fast forward 20 years, and now every single one of them has been nominated for or won an Oscar.

The script really has to be that good to bring Meryl Streep back, especially since she’s famously selective about sequels, whether reprising an old role or joining a sequel as a new character. Getting her to return is no small feat, and that alone says a lot about The Devil Wears Prada 2.

I'm honestly surprised this even got made, considering Meryl Streep almost never does sequels. The last time she reprised a role was as Donna in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, and even then it was just a brief appearance. So the fact that she’s coming back for this has me so excited, it really feels like she’s breaking one of her own rules, and I can’t wait. The first movie is a timeless classic. 🙌
