Nadal is playing a different game than everyone else on clay. No one has figured out how to match him. GO RAFA!!!!!

It’s symbolic that he got his 20th grand slam and equaled Federer’s record and now both of them have 20 in 2020.

This was the most tactical beat down I’ve ever seen on a court besides the beating Rafa gave Roger in RG 08. Nadal used every single conceivable shot, lob, drop shot, angle, topspin, high looping forehand return, straight backhand, straight forehand, change of pace slice followed by a fearhand return... my goodness... God Mode activated. Joker 🃏 played well actually he was just shocked as there was no game plan for this type of play on clay. Federer did this on grass in Wimbledon 19 but he choked away the match. Rafa said “not today”try next year. Phenomenal performance.

Everything was against him this year...Final in october, cold, rain, wilson balls, Novak in the final and they even closed the roof for final... still he won it without dropping a set and the way he destroyed Djokovic in final is just amazing... such a legend - repeat in half a year...

It was the most elegant, professional and focused grand slam final from Rafa I have ever seen. We are fortunate to still be in the era of the greatest champion tennis has ever seen. He was an unstoppable ruthless force on the court and the sweetest most humble winner. Despite this year's hardship watching Rafa claim his 13th Roland Garros has brought a small piece of normality to this year and hope for the next. Vamos Rafa, you truly are the one and only GOAT.

Both Fed & Novak have said Rafa is their greatest rival. That's highest praises right there... Rafa pushed them to become better players. How insane is that? Rafa's trajectory dealt with prime Fed & prime Nole.

From Nole's fan: when I saw this highlites, I saw Nole was not too bad, just Nadal and his tremendous performance. I can not remeber when someone destroyed Nole like this. I was sure Nole will win, but I have to congrarulate Rafa, this is fuckin' unbelieveble, and I am really happy because him, he deserved that. He is good guy, very humble, big fighter, I like the way he plays, he is Nole's biggest rival, and I am happy to have an opportunity to watch these legends. Today, it was very difficult for me, but let Nadal enjoy his well deserved record-breaking trophy. Can't wait blockbuster number 57. All the best to all Rafa's fans!

The first time i watched you was in 2009 Australian Open . A little young guy from Mallorca with a shy attitude and a humble pure heart yet with a world to conquer , small in his words and compassionate in his opponents after their defeats but on the court a matador ready to strike and show no mercy in his strokes .
I was fascinated as a small kid ; the athleticism the fighting spirit and the mindset of never giving up had made me a fan instantly. From that moment on I knew who I was supporting ; tennis itself THE GOD OF CLAY . You are the greatest inspiration for me , you introduced me to tennis and the passion of the sport . You made me stronger , more determined and with the sole purpose of achieving greatness in life while maintaining humility. I would have never ever expected in my life that after so long you would still find new ways to jaw drop me and make me love the game even more always learning new values and aspects in life.

It’s almost as if Rafa was intentionally playing poorly the previous rounds but doing just enough to win in straight sets so as to leave joker and his supporters with a false sense of confidence heading to the final. Well played my friend, Chess ♟ not Checkers.

Well, at the beginning of his tennis career Federer won several GS against lesser players and that happened before Nadal appeared and had become a real threat in non-clay courts. After Nadal won Wimbledon, his record is clearly better than Federer's. Plus he's won the Olympics in singles (Federer and Nole haven't), and also in doubles, and he has seven master series more than Federer and only one less than Nole. Plus he's won five times the Davis cup (Nole and Federer only once). He's won 9 times in Rome and 11 in Montecarlo, no other player has won 9 or more times a top tournement (masters 1000 or GS), he has done it in three different tournements. True, he hasn't won the masters cup, but I think that after his 13th RG we can argue that so far his overall achievements surpass any other player´s in history.

For almost two and a half sets, this was Nadal at his A prime game and Nadal at this level and on clay is unbeatable despite the fact that if you could tailor a French Open to suit Djokovic's strengths (and neutralize some of Nadal's strengths) this slow and heavy French Open would be it.
If this was being played as usual in the spring on a faster and more spin amenable court, I would say that there might have been another bagel in the offing. Of course, if this was played on a hard court, it would be much closer but, even then, I'm not sure Djokovic wins if Nadal plays at this level. As Djokovic put it, he was simply phenomenal (or phenomenadal if you prefer).
Djokovic faced the existential dilemma and conundrum of Nadal's high arcing and fierce topspin on clay--you stay near the baseline and take your chances by constantly hitting on the rise (at the risk of unforced errors) or you stay back which in turn opens up the court for Nadal (and you can guess how that will end).
Djokovic followed the now prescribed way to have a chance against Nadal--he stayed near the baseline and tried to force the issue. The problem is when Nadal hits with the kind of consistent depth and pace that he did today, it's almost impossible to avoid unforced errors especially with Nadal's ability to cover the court--it forces you to be too precise and too perfect for too long.
In some ways, I think the preferred surface for each of the Big 3 reflects so much of their games and personalities. The visceral grittiness and greatness of the terre battue at Roland Garros, the majestic splendor of the lawns at Wimbledon and the crisp precision and exacting nature of the hard courts at the Australian and US Opens.
It is generally thought that the French is the toughest to win because (due to the relative length of the points and the unpredictable nature of the surface ) of the premium placed on the mental, physical and tactical aspects of the game. That's what makes 13 (and counting!) GS on this surface in particular so unfathomable and probably the record that has the best chance at never being broken.
In the end, I think, in the Big 3, we're watching an era of tennis greatness that will likely never be matched again.
Enjoy it while you can.

As one of the commentators said "This wasn't even a match". Rafa dominated every rally from the very beginning. It felt like he just lost 7 games, not like Novak won them. He's lost a lot of finals to Djokovic, but he really is unrivaled at Roland Garros. Roger used to be the same way at Wimbledon, and he still would be but age is a bitch. I respect Djokovic enormously, but Roger and Rafa are unquestionably a cut above.
