It looks like a continental multi-sport event than a olympic opening ceremony (excepting for the drones that was the awesome part!), I love Japan and his culture, people and tradition... But from the japanese people that is creative, innovative is possible to make a better show!!!

The show last night is great, Japan is really great in combining and presenting traditional culture and modernity.
But there's just one thing that i'm very disappointed with, this highlight video.
Is this video supposed to be a highlight video? or an after movie? Coz idk, this video is not good to show the highlights of the opening ceremony. A slide show of photos from the ceremony? Its just like some typical Japanese explanation video that i often encounter, w funny bgm, long text credit and robotic female voice narrating the video.
I'm so sorry if others had different opinion, its just that i think this video is a no for an olympic ceremony highlights.

もっと日本を愛する海外の人達が望んでいた良い演出を作れたはず。電通が潰した。
ブラジルのオリンピック閉会式で日本のオリンピックを紹介した演出はほんとワクワク
するような出来だった。寧ろ開会式よりかそっちの方が良かった。
これでは北京やリオの方が演出良かった。

The demure imgin in his ancestral most original costume meeting jazz craziest pianist ...was a surprise ...then again still for always...n from Edo all around to Tokyo now'that symbolizes Japan extremely well....all around and more or less humbly we are all at the mercy of memories and time travel......and praise the hot sun goddess Fujiyama...'as misia melts our hearts tearing almost deep voiced kimigayo.....did she looked like a shaved ice drenched in multicolored multiflavored rainbow sirop....

確かに、「日本だな〜」という演出はいくつかありました。
しかし、演出はどちらかというと日本
文化と西洋文化…混ざらない2つのものを混ぜるのはどうかしてます。
日本の文化は、世界に愛される立派な文化です。和太鼓や着物など、日本を象徴するものや連想させるものを演出の中に取り入れるべきだと思いました。

リオ閉会式のクオリティが凄かったから、あれを期待してしまった分ちょっとガッカリしてしまった。
無観客、人を大勢入れられない、コストもきっとかけられなかったのだろうから本当に試行錯誤の末だったとは理解出来るのだけど。
選手の皆様が楽しそうで良かった。それが1番嬉しかったな。

This was spectacular!! All of you did such an amazing job. I loved how you dedicated the ceremony to the athletes and those that have passed away. It must have been very challenging to redo the whole presentation, but it turned out beautifully. Thank you for all your hard work!! God bless.

It was the most boring and shabby opening ceremony ever.
It was because all the original great members (stage directors, producers, designers and appointed actors and artists...) such as Mansai Nomura, Ringo Shoiina (who produced the last performance in Rio), and many others resigned last year due to the adjournment. So did later MIKIKO...
Then, instead, they (the committee) employed Dentsu (an ad agency) to rewrite the scenario...
Dentsu had installed very problematic person as a new chief director and employed mostly mediocre TV comedians or TV actors than real artists (because Dentsu usually works for TV CM)...those included again, some problematic personalities as some of them got castigated by the world for their improper word choice or rascality in the past and got fired
at the last minutes to the ceremony.
They had also employed very mediocre theme...such as "one world", "diversity" etc...
Nothing related to Japanese history and culture...especially, shoddy "Edo performance" with really bad design (not like Japanese precise timber construction nor like Japanese traditional lantern carnivals...).
Why the shoddy tap-dance instead of Japanese festival folk dance performances?
Those continued to the bad choice of the anchor of torch relay ...
Kabuki part was abbreviated and mismated with Jazz piano (she herself is a great player...but..).
To crown it all, that mediocre typically appeared as "Imagine"....Just like a PyeongChang Winter Olympics....WTF?!?!... instead Japan has so many great music and artists ...where were they ?!?!
Moreover....WTF why our Emperor had to stand up before the others???
As Japanese, I feel very ashamed.
