After seeing that music video, seeing Nate struggle to hold onto his hope and his sense of security gave me chills. It really shows that no matter where we are in life we can never escape FEAR, but it doesn’t mean we can’t life with it, or overcome it. Nate has ran for so long, buried his pain and suffering. In HOPE, he finally confronts his trauma and decides to make a new start for himself, finally found a way out to where he doesn’t have to locked away to feel safe, or give up his happiness. In this video FEAR is trying to take control of him, Nate understands what FEAR is doing that’s why he doesn’t fight back. Nate is actually trying to find a way to live with the pain and come to terms with it instead of fighting against it. That’s why he burns down the mansion, he setting everything free, that’s the only way he can be himself and not feel restrained by his emotions. Beautiful storytelling

This song hurt my soul.

I have followed, listen to, repeated, sang, repeated, slept to and used Nate's music to help me through my own pain since Mansion. Every album released has somehow given me exactly what I needed to grow and work though the evil I was fighting. Especially Hope. I owe where I'm today to Christ, but I'd be lying if I said God didn't use NF to help me become the man I am today.

But this song was so painful to me. So many of the comments I'm seeing seem to be overlooking what NF is actually saying and just praising his skill. A deaf man could hear his talent. That's not what this comment is about, it's what he's actually saying in the song.

The message of Nate letting the darkness and fear back in, that's what was painful. I've always loved his music because of the struggle. The refusal to give up when you get knocked down and to always search for hope. That was always the big thing that made him different for me from artist like eminem, TOP, or logic. They always seemed to talk about their pain without a path forward. Without a plan to change or fight back. But NF always got back up. There was always a drive to find that light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm not saying wrong to struggle. To struggle is the refusal to give up. We're all human, and I'm a sinner to. NF being in pain, messing up, making mistakes, failing, I get all of that.

It's the feeling of giving up that hurt me so much. I've come so far because of Nate. Climbed out of the pit I was in with his words in my ears. And now that I'm finally out, to see him willingly open the door for the darkness to return was excruciating. The visuals were so painful to see. And his music effects my mindset so much that, if I were to listen to this album like I have to the rest of them, I would actually start to backtrack and loose all the ground I've made.

Nate, I doubt you'll ever read this, but if you do, know I haven't left you as a fan. You still are and will forever be my favorite artist because of everything you've done for me. But I can't listen to most of these songs, and that's painful to say. I hope and pray that this is just about the pain your going through, and not the path you've chosen to take.

Know I am praying for you Nate, not attacking you. This comment is made out of a genuine concern and desire for your wellbeing. You've come so far, which is why this song hurt me so much to see. Don't accept the darkness brother. Don't give up on the Lord. Keep fighting.

I think one of the most impressive things about Nate’s music is that he doesn’t just tell you what he’s going through, he makes you feel it. Not many artists can do that and he crushes it every time.

This song encapsulates mental illness and trauma.
It feels like you're making progress and things are getting better but then something triggers you and you're down a spiral again.

This is a reminder that healing from mental illness of any kind is not linear and there will be good and bad days.
Days where you handle it well and days where you don't. Days when the symptoms are managable and days when they completely overwhelm you. Because people think healing is one and done but healing is a constant effort and process.

It's not about perfection, its about progress. Even if you just move foward a little, its an achievement. It's better than not moving at all.

Trauma is something that takes time to unpack. Your body and inner child deserve compassion. Your nervous system needs time to regulate itself. Don't rush your healing or feel bad if you still struggle with things.

Healing from this crippling illness that you lived with for years will take time and there will be moments like these where you feel like you are relapsing and becoming everything you've been saying you were not anymore. But that is when you have to keep at it and keep on living a better and more positive life. I've been at a similar point before and your music helped me through these waves.
