STORY
月野うさぎたちは、束の間の平和を取り戻し、普通の女子高生としての生活を送っていた。
その矢先、うさぎの恋人である地場衛がアメリカへ留学することに。衛の見送りの空港で、うさぎは衛から婚約指輪を渡される。ふたりが未来を誓った直後、衛は何者かの手によってうさぎの目の前で消滅させられてしまう。
衛が消えた現実を受け止めきれないうさぎは、その記憶を心の奥底にしまい込んでしまった。
そんな中、うさぎたちの前に、突如セーラーギャラクシア率いるシャドウ・ギャラクティカ、そしてセーラースターライツが現れる。セーラースターライツが敵か味方かわからないまま、セーラー戦士たちは圧倒的な強さを持つセーラーギャラクシアに、力の源である“セーラー・クリスタル”を奪われ、次々と消されていく。
ふたたび自分の愛する人たちに出会えることを信じて――。

I actually started to cry when it hit me the OP was a remake of the S opening with references to the other OP's. I know some fans are upset about parts of Cosmos having scenes of 90's fan pandering but as someone who is one of those diehard 90's fans, watching this for the first time truly felt like a celebration of *my* Sailor Moon. This grand culmination has been 30 years in the making, and the wait finally paid off. My inner 8 year old self would be on the floor right now.

We are so fucking back. My god.

My favorite parts is 0:44 to 0:57. Love that Chibi Chibi turned Usagi into eternal sailor moon with the others fighting in the back. It's symbolic of Usagi's fragile mental state in the arc and Chibi Chibi giving strength, being there for her when no one can and how she holds Chibi Chibi close in appreciation. Ending beautifully with all the girls symbolically swirling around her but not standing by her, indicating their absence then the Moon Chalice appears which holds all their combine strength shining saying even in death they're always there giving Usagi strength to keep on fighting.

I love that they used the original storyboards from the Sailor Moon S Intro for this. This is a perfect way to end the Sailor Moon Crystal era! I always said that they were gonna wait and use Moonlight Densetsu for the final arc and well.. I’m glad I’m right ! 🫡

Now that's how you do a proper OP sequence, by combining the one from Sailor Moon S and the Super S with a new creativity and addition while maintaining the old song but with an upgrade. This give me goosebumps watching it, a dose of nostalgia as well as appreciating on how much homage and tribute they paid to the predecessor from the 90s series.

Muy bello y nostalgico, me encanto muchisimo el diseño, las imagenes, los colores, las secuencias ademas que tiene tantas referencias al opening de Sailor Super S,S y Stars, a parte de que aparecieron todas las sailor juntas, a los threeligths y chibi chibi, ame verlos todos juntos sonando de fondo moonligth, ojala la pongan en latino como opening 😍🤩😥😢, porfavor toei trae las peliculas de Sailor Moon Cosmos a latinoamerica y el regreso de los actores del elenco Stars porfavor❤🙏

Am I totally crying in happiness, joy, excitement and delight on how absolutely beautiful and too precious and glorious the Sailor Moon Cosmos Part 1 opening is? YES, YES, YES, YES I TOTALLY AM!!!!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE EVERY MOMENT OF IT, OMHG, the special tribute to the 90s anime Sailor Moon series of every moment of the Eternal Sailor Team, Tuxedo Mask, Sailor Starlights, Princess Kakyuu, and the Moon Cats, the royal Moon Family from Crystal Tokyo in Cosmos is absolutely beautiful and outstanding, like a huge cherry on a ice cream top, this is totally perfect and omg, I'm enjoying every easter treat and moment of Sailor Moon Cosmos!!!! My wonderful childhood memories flowing right now, I'm so very happy and excited for my #1 favorite anime!!!! I can't wait until Cosmos comes out on Netflix hopefully this year, this just became my new #1 favorite Sailor Moon movie now same with the opening!!!! THANK YOU, NAOKO & TOEI!!!!
