Today, Game Science unveils a brand-new 15-minute gameplay trailer for Black Myth: Zhong Kui, the second title in the Black Myth series. The trailer offers a first look at the protagonist in combat, along with a glimpse of the story.
As the game is still in early development, all footage was captured in-game from a work-in-progress build running at a 21:9 aspect ratio. The final release may differ.

Zhong Kui is a legendary figure from Chinese mythology, widely known as the “Demon Queller” and a powerful protector against evil spirits. According to legend, he was a brilliant scholar who performed exceptionally well in the imperial examination but was denied the highest honor because of his unattractive appearance. Humiliated, Zhong Kui took his own life, but after death, the King of Hell recognized his intelligence and strong character and granted him the divine authority to hunt and defeat demons. He is traditionally depicted as a fierce-looking man with a long beard, wearing scholar’s robes and carrying a sword, often shown capturing or fighting evil spirits. People historically placed images of Zhong Kui in their homes as protective symbols, believing that his presence could drive away demons and protect them from evil.

This might be the first gameplay reveal I've ever seen where they show what actual real gameplay looks like - getting hit, missing attacks, fumbling here and there. I know the logic is always that it's going to look better if they showcase perfect, cinematic gameplay, but this was way more exciting and interesting because it actually sold me that this is REAL footage and not just some perfectly calibrated vertical slice. Looks amazing! Can't wait

When he transfer ed his soul to the summon and controlled it, that was soooooooooo sick. This is a sign I haven't played Wukong in a long time and I should do it again for the 5th time, extremely excited for Zhong Kui. This gameplay looked so clean.

As someone who played BM Wukong for 180 hours and got wukong stance, that was my favourite game of all time.
Everything about this looks so insanely good, thank you GameScience for being the saviours we all needed.

This girl appears to be Zhong Kui’s younger sister (whom we have met in the CNY trailer). If they’re following the traditional legend, the man could be Du Ping, Zhong Kui’s close friend, whom Zhong Kui later arranged for his sister to marry.
