Lyrics:
Through the winter’s ice and cold
Down Nicollet Avenue
A city aflame fought fire and ice
‘Neath an occupier’s boots
King Trump’s private army from the DHS
Guns belted to their coats
Came to Minneapolis to enforce the law
Or so their story goes
Against smoke and rubber bullets
By the dawn’s early light
Citizens stood for justice
Their voices ringing through the night
And there were bloody footprints
Where mercy should have stood
And two dead left to die on snow-filled streets
Alex Pretti and Renee Good

Oh our Minneapolis, I hear your voice
Singing through the bloody mist
We’ll take our stand for this land
And the stranger in our midst
Here in our home they killed and roamed
In the winter of ’26
We’ll remember the names of those who died
On the streets of Minneapolis

Trump’s federal thugs beat up on
His face and his chest
Then we heard the gunshots
And Alex Pretti lay in the snow, dead
Their claim was self defense, sir
Just don’t believe your eyes
It’s our blood and bones
And these whistles and phones
Against Miller and Noem’s dirty lies

Oh our Minneapolis, I hear your voice
Crying through the bloody mist
We’ll remember the names of those who died
On the streets of Minneapolis

Now they say they’re here to uphold the law
But they trample on our rights
If your skin is black or brown my friend
You can be questioned or deported on sight

In chants of ICE out now
Our city’s heart and soul persists
Through broken glass and bloody tears
On the streets of Minneapolis

Oh our Minneapolis, I hear your voice
Singing through the bloody mist
Here in our home they killed and roamed
In the winter of ’26
We’ll take our stand for this land
And the stranger in our midst
We’ll remember the names of those who died
On the streets of Minneapolis
We’ll remember the names of those who died
On the streets of Minneapolis

Thank you Bruce Springsteen.
It's been difficult to watch from 'across the pond' the recent scenes unfold in the land of the free. If America can fall so quickly, there's little hope for the rest of us, and for that reason; We are ALL Minneapolis 💔.

We were protesting in SLC last weekend and it was cold out on the overpass (I'm in a visibility brigade) and we kept telling ourselves--it's colder than this in Minneapolis, so this is the least we can do. Sending love to you from Utah, Minneapolis friends.

Thank you, Bruce, for seeing us here in Minnesota. Seeing your song instantly brought tears to my eyes today. Even before I heard the song's music or read its lyrics, seeing its title caused a sigh (of relief, of recognition) to escape my lips. I read your lyrics as I listened to you masterfully sing them, and I realized that, as I did so, I felt my body relaxing ... my shoulders dropping down as they let go of the tension they'd been carrying tightly for weeks now.

Our State and her people have been through a lot since the beginning of this year. A LOT! We live each day feeling constant emotions, strong and raw — fear and worry and anger and indignation — and have had to watch in anguish and horror as our neighbors are unjustly, unmercifully targeted and persecuted ... or, as the world has seen and will not be able to un-see, indiscriminately and callously gunned down in the streets, after having committed no crimes. Thank you for seeing all of that, and for helping us to ensure that Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti will not be forgotten.

I am so thankful for the State of Minnesota, and so proud to call it my lifelong home. ❤️ The people here are a special breed! Looking out for each other, and having each other's back — it's just what we do.

Thank You for this tribute to those who really count, the heroes who stand up and say 'ENOUGH' in solidarity. For all the heroes, who serve in too many ways to count, and in unseen ways that may never be acknowledged, We the People, are forever grateful.
29: @hollyarntzenART 2026/01/29 9:53
My Norwegian American Grandma Arntzen's family is from and in Minnesota. Thank you Bruce for creating this musical portal for me to feel deeply what is going on. We are all called upon to stand up, speak and sing and shout out for our communities. We are all Minneapolis. We can put our minds and hearts together, act in cooperation, collaboration and strategy to effect positive change. The wealth of the robber barons relies on all of us maintaining our consumption patterns. So when we change our consumption practices, we can help our communities and families. Thank you for the courage of all. from Maple Ridge, Canada
