This young prodigy created the very atmosphere of Poland in the Mazurkas, let the scent of death drift through the Raindrop Prelude, held a solemn funeral in the Sonata, and fell asleep with a glimmer of hope in the Berceuse. What an exquisite storyteller!

She is my favorite remaining competitor. Her sound is so elegant, touching, mature
4: @lawrencepiano100 2025/10/16 4:59
Many competitors played with too much efforts and force. She played just effortless with all emotions and impeccable skills. Hard to imagine a 16 years old teenage achieving stage III with such a high level performance in every piece.
5: @shigerumitsukuri3531 2025/10/16 1:00
I was waiting for this video !
I hope she wins the competition
6: @akirafujiwara5232 2025/10/16 4:17
I was in the hall, and the performance was so great that her world enchanted the audience. So talented sixteen year old pianist 🎉
7: @zenekmarciszewski6254 2025/10/16 4:38
Piękna TIANYAO LYU (jej osoba i pianistyczny kunszt) ~ jest spójna we wszystkich aspektach odbioru sztuki - górnolotnej Muzyki.
Wielce przyjemna i prawdziwa Harmonia. Brawa dla wspaniałej osobowości kontrolującej piękny fortepian i to, co z niego WYPŁYWA ... Fryderyk Chopin zapewne jest dumny z takiej interpretatorki jego dzieł.
Pozdrawiam wszystkich uczestników i fascynatów XIX Konkursu Wirtuoza F. Chopina.
8: @paulinev.pompei2907 2025/10/16 4:05
Great sound! Convincing playing, following all directions and giving her all to make one be part of her music
9: @jerryke4997 2025/10/16 1:10
At just 16, Tianyao Lyu stunned the audience with a masterful, emotionally layered program. From the tragic depth of Chopin’s Sonata in B-flat minor, through the dreamy melancholy of the Raindrop Prelude, to the luminous innocence of the Berceuse, her recital traced a full circle of life — death, remembrance, and rebirth.

Despite her petite frame and small hands, she overcame every technical challenge with remarkable body mechanics — leveraging joints, weight, and core movement — delivering explosive octaves and breathtaking color control.

Her use of the Fazioli’s shimmering, bell-like tone was exquisite. In the Berceuse, every note floated like stardust. With visible tears at the end, it felt as if she was truly reliving a memory — not performing Chopin, but living him.

For me, she’s not just a contestant. She’s a soul who makes people cry through music.
10: @vk-or1dc 2025/10/16 1:07
Her raindrop prelude is one of the best in history
11: @94F19 2025/10/16 1:02
My favorite of all! Love her calm and accurate control, not lacking fire exactly when needed!
12: @Cat-love-9055 2025/10/16 1:42
Loved the performance. Hope she makes it to the final! She deserves it!
13: @ricseste 2025/10/16 1:50

14: @tree610 2025/10/16 2:18
Her sound is mesmerizing and draws people in. And a sense of timing that’s far beyond her age. What a special musician! Can’t wait to see where her career takes her
15: @marzennawiecaszek7188 2025/10/16 3:17

日本人コンテスタントを応援したいけど断トツ好きな演奏で尊い。
17: @pianoone9004 2025/10/16 0:53
she will be one of the final round's contestant in my opinion.
18: @galemea 2025/10/16 4:40
Skąd w tak młodej osobie tyle dojrzałości? Niepojęte....
19: @JamesCarlLagmanOsorio 2025/10/16 4:11
The narrative intent behind the Raindrop Prelude- Funeral March Sonata- Lullaby (Berceuse) sequence is just genius!!! My goodness!!!!
20: @janpanufnik1705 2025/10/16 1:24
For me, Tanyao Lyu has already won this Competition, because her interpretation of the B minor Sonata is not a performance, it’s a revelation. In a world where many play the notes, She unveils the soul’s architecture of the piece, as if she knows its inner fractures and secrets. The Funeral March is not a lament in her hands, it’s a ritual of passage, where every chord carries the weight of a final glance. The Finale ? Not played, but whispered, not asking to be understood, but to be met with silence.
Her maturity lies not in technical bravura, but in knowing when not to play. In leaving space where Chopin can breathe. If the Esteemed Jury fails to recognize this, it will not merely make a mistake. It will commit a betrayal of the very idea of the Competition. Because here stands an artist who does not interpret Chopin, but restores him. And if that’s not enough to crown her the winner, then the Competition has stopped listening.

Three Mazurkas - spotless gems -
Her bare foot stumbled upon in the emerald Zakopanie caves:
She transported them from the Orient
And returned them encrusted with a gold rim to the Sleeping Soldier.

Young Tianyao effortlessly
Played her childish dream:
Raindrops pattered in Shanghai

Then came the sonata and even
The irate fellow contestants' henchmen
Could not disturb the princess child
With their hurling of chairs and boards

Young Tianyao effortlessly
Played her childish dream:
Raindrops pattered in Shanghai

She finished - o burnished silverwork
Of the Kunlun and Tian Shan ranges!
With the cradle-song of the Himalayan empress child

Young Tianyao effortlessly
Played her childish dream:
Raindrops pattered in Shanghai

An artist to the core ❤
She brings pleasure to the whole audience !
23: @PhilippeColpaert 2025/10/16 1:57
Always My favorite since the beginning of the competition. the funeral march was intense but with a great sobriety, just perfect. A wonderful recital, for me the winner.
24: @maciejzmuda1339 2025/10/16 3:12
The lullaby at the end was the icing on the cake. It was so soothing after the dramatic sonata that I felt like wrapped in a warm blanket by angels. Beautiful colours painted and crystalline sounds like a stream in paradise. Thank you Tianyao Lyu. I'm waiting for your recitals and recordings. All the best!
25: @MontegueWizard 2025/10/16 2:59
I love the sound of the Fazioli piano and she plays it beautifully! Reminds me of Bruce Liu in the last competition.

There are people who play the piano and then there are pianists! I’m a barely adequate piano player. So I applaud all those who have dedicated so much of their time and talent in making Chopin’s music such a joy to listen to. Best of luck to all who will move on to the final round. May all those who didn’t make it continue to bring their musical gifts to the rest of the world. 🌺🎹❤️
26: @romanmuller5006 2025/10/16 5:14
Unbelievable! A masterly presentation. I’m ablaze at all.

心地の良い音楽ですね。
誇張でもなんでもなく、ただずっと聴いていられるような……
あまりにも素晴らしいです。
34: @MusicHavenSG 2025/10/16 0:43
Her repertoire, I feel, this time is the closest thing by anyone in this competition to telling a story. To lump the D-Flat pieces: the Prelude and the Berceuse together with the Sonata was a bold move. How I see the Prelude as the Preamble to the Sonata (in its relative minor with regular swings to D-flat major) and ending with the Berceuse to make these works part of a whole story, coming to terms with death from the Funeral March.

Well put together, TY. And well done for doing the sonata better than me.
35: @BinhNguyen-bg1fm 2025/10/16 2:54
Magnifique TIANYAO LYU! Superb Interpretation!
36: @dong4617 2025/10/16 3:42
She has the touch of genius. Chopin wrote the Raindrop Prelude while visiting Palma Majorca (I can't believe I know this).
37: @auerod 2025/10/16 4:22
She has to make it to the finals, right? This is extraordinary playing. This competition has never been this deep and the true winners are the listeners.
38: @piano.player 2025/10/16 5:07
Your berceuse is so poetic, we have so much to learn by your pianist. Bravissima!!
39: @schildjean3795 2025/10/16 5:09
Bravo Tianyao Lui for this magnificent piano playing ❤
40: @KatErina-ii6ru 2025/10/16 3:33
She deserves to win ❤❤❤
41: @aleksandrabielak3005 2025/10/16 3:37
Ohhh ona jest jak z innej planety! Gra tak naturalnie, melodia płynie. I tak przyjemnie się na nią patrzy! Obok Piotra Pawlaka to moja topka.
42: @organloft2001 2025/10/16 0:36
She is the winner 🏆 Supreme performance!
43: @Bea-ek4xt 2025/10/16 2:18
I have been looking forward to this upload! Brilliant playing, and especially loved the Sonata.
I really hope she moves on to the next round.
44: @luc3753 2025/10/16 5:24
Such a good pianist. Hope her version of op 35, especially the last movement, didn't put the jury off. It would be great to listen to her playing one of the Concerti in the finals.
45: @princeyibby1238 2025/10/16 3:54
I’M ROOTING FOR YOU TIANYAO
46: @JamesCarlLagmanOsorio 2025/10/16 3:20
This is just a dignified yet delicate delivery of Chopin’s music. Truly divine! Tianyao’s sensibility and sensitivity to her sound is heartbreaking. It’s THAT good. She somehow foregrounds the music and her own artistry in a way that’s beyond convincing. She played as if she herself had composed the music. Every phrase was shaped with an intimate understanding. And yet, there was nothing indulgent or self-serving in her interpretation (and even if it was indulgent, who cares?!). So far in the competition, she continues to honor the score with reverence and precision, while allowing her own artistic voice to shine through in every nuance and sonority. It’s a rare and remarkable balance. A miraculous musicianship.
47: @Erlendsander 2025/10/16 2:54
Wow, wow, wow!! This is amazing!!
48: @asjp 2025/10/16 2:10

The Sonata was a pure miracle - never after Sokolovs Interpretation heard it that passionate!!! Her voice, her tenderness - it's just great and breathtaking!
50: @jiayoutao6915 2025/10/16 4:28
