Every time I listen to you, I cry. I can't do anything, the tears fly by themselves. You are a genius - Sorita San. I don't know what's in your heart, I don't know how you do it. Chopin evidently never dreamed of playing his music by a Samurai. There is so much Poland in your music, so much wind, clouds and willows by the Vistula River and the tears of millions of longing people. Thank you for an amazing experience. You will be my creative inspiration for a long time after the end of the competition.

Mr. Sorita has respect and appreciation towards Chopin, Polish people, Polish culture, a conductor, orchestra members, audiences and so on. We can hear them thru his music. That’s what music is for. Without words, we can tell anything with music. He showed us how beautiful it is…

The Third part has more of the needed Polish flavor to the theme in Sorita's interpretation. I see what everyone is saying about the accents. It certainly gives a unique feel to his performance. The LH melodies are good, but beg the question why do the other pianists miss the opportunity? Chopin hides these voices in plain sight. The best thing for me is that Sorita's 3rd movement makes me want to work on and perform the work again!

This is a true concerto that the piano and the orchestra are completely in harmony. I never listen such wonderful E minor concerto, Op.11. Thanks a lot for your amazing performance. May be, no one can play better than SORITA. This mean, he will be the winner.

To było niezapomniane oglądać na żywo ten wspaniały dialog z orkiestrą przepełniony emocjami które udzieliły się wszystkim .... Dziękuję w imieniu swoim i wszystkich którzy poczuli się tak samo. Mam nadzieję że uda się zrealizować Chopinowski album bez względu na wyniki konkursu , czego sobie panu i wszystkim zainteresowanym Życzę i Dopinguję z całego Serca

The great thing about him is that he has refined and developed the traditional Chopin image without destroying it. He is not merely unique, but also not self-indulgent. He is outstanding in the sense that he has all the elements to convince the audience.

I listen to my heart when I listen to music, not an expert of sorts. All of the performances were beautiful, but when Sorita played those first notes of the Romance Larghetto, I genuinely smiled and melted into how delicately he translates emotions into his play. That was a genuine connection. He is my favorite this competition.

sorita is just simply sublime. he brings out inner voices beautifully and knows how to transfer his weight onto the keys effectively - a perfect balance between tenderness and robustness i feel. that rubato in the 2nd mvmt was such a genius decision imo and made him stand out from the other competitors in terms of musicality. only someone who has complete control over the orchestra would dare to do such a thing, and he has clearly proved that he's more than capable of pulling that off. been supporting him since the preliminaries, and i really hope he at least places in the top 3. grateful that ive gotten to know such a talented pianist :"

This is the most special interpretation of Chopin's piano I have ever heard. Quite not Polish, but not unpleasant. I really like the style he touches the keys in the lyrical phrases with "sliding string" feelings. In addition, there is a distinctive vibrato. The Adagio in the second movement has "blank", which is quite characteristic of Japanese painting art (or Chinese painting style)-the quietness between the phrases is particularly long. I don’t know if the judges like this style of interpretation, but I think he combined Asian and Polish musical thinking to try to create new possibilities for Chopin’s music. I sincerely hope that Mr. Sorita can become the first Japanese champion in the competition history.

I’m Chinese and I’m rooting for this guy. Great respect to Japan for consistently producing such fine musicians. Him and Hao Rao gave amazing performances but I think he is a shade better than Hao Rao. Let’s hope they both get prizes.

I love his expression and his confidence on every touch, especially the third was really amazing
And above all, he is quite old guy for the competition, it is not easy to focus only on practice in that age..27 comparing to other players in late 10s or early 20s. That means he is really a pure, honest and passionate artist
I hope he can get the first prize

I listened to all four performances and I felt Sorita's performance was the best. The rest is out of his hands now and up to the judges.
Based on most of the positive comments online and also the enthusiastic reaction of the crowd, I would be very surprised if he doesn't finish Top 3.

反田恭平のリサイタル、しかも、おそらく、
彼の生涯の演奏の中で「名演」と言えるものとなるでしょう。

反田さんの奏でる音の全てが美しい。
繊細な音からダイナミックな音まで私の理想の音。
画面に落ちる涙を見て初めて、自分が泣いていることに気づいた。
いつか生で反田さんの演奏を聴いてみたい。
結果はどうであれ私はファイナルまで反田さんの演奏が聴けて良かった。本当に嬉しいし幸せ。

35:24 truly truly amazing. Never seen a conductor and pianist have such a deep connection and fun on the stage. They both understood each other so well and you could tell that they really were enjoying the music they were creating. Even the orchestra seemed very enthusiastic to be playing! Thank you for your wonderful performance. I heard your performance for the first time . Chopin's concerto has listened to dozens of performances since childhood. However, Mr. Sorita's Chopin sometimes sounded like the first song I heard. It's a strange feeling. And I remembered this is the feeling I had when I first heard Glenn Gould's Bach. You played a new Chopin without breaking the traditional Chopin concerto in any way. It's perfect too. I am happy to meet you
